In the South Lake Tahoe area, there is a small pond on U.S. Forest Service property that has been established as a fishing pond for children under the age of 18. The Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe provides ongoing support of this site to include stocking fish for the youngsters to catch, maintaining the site and promoting the pond for family use. The goal of the project is to support family values and to build in young people the love for and appreciation of the outdoors. Kids love to fish and this pond provides the opportunity for families to teach their children the basics of fishing in a beautiful, safe environment with fish stocked to make it more likely for the kids to be rewarded with a nice catch.
Breakdown of Costs
- Stocking fish - 2000 pounds of Rainbow Trout @$.50 per pound $5,000.00
- Maintenance of site and facilities $2,500.00
- Overhead $450.00
If Funding Goal is Exceeded:
This is an annual ongoing project. Any additional donations would be used to assist with future years' expenses.
If Funding Goal is Not Met:
We normally stock the pond 4 times during the season. If we do not raise enough money from this campaign we will have to reduce the number of fish we put into the pond.
